DELIA — Gary L. Lewman, 26, Delia, was killed Monday, Aug. 4. 1997, in a truck accident on K-177 about two miles south of Council Grove.
He was born Nov. 19, 1970, in Holton, the son of Richard and Veradean Anderson Lewman, and spent most of his life in the Delia community. He was graduated from Rossville High School in 1989. He was a truck driver for Bayer Stone Co., in St. Marys and had worked for the Farmers Union Cooperative in St. Marys several years. He had served in the Navy.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Veradean Lewman, Delia; a sister, Nikki Lewman, Delia; two half-sisters, Kathy Mick, Netawaka, and Lucy Hrenchir, Topeka; a half-brother, Tony Lewman, Tucson, Ariz.; and grandparents, John and Waneitta Hudson, Topeka.
No funeral is planned. Mr. Lewman will lie in state after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

Gary L. Lewman, 26, Delia, died Monday, August 4, 1997, in a vehicle accident south of Manhattan on Highway 177.
He was born November 19, 1970, in Holton, the son of Richard and Veradean Anderson Lewman. He grew up in the Delia community and graduated from Rossville High School in 1989. Mr. Lewman served in the Navy. He was a truck driver for Bayer Stone Co. in St. Marys and had worked for the Farmers Union Co-op at St. Marys for several years.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Veradean Lewman, Delia, and one sister, Nikki Lewman, Delia.
Mr. Lewman will lie in state on Wednesday, August 6, at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home after 2:00. There will be a family visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
