  Documents » Slide Show		Marriage- Hook, Ethelyn-Lynde, Elmer Hook-Lynde A very simple but pretty wedding was solemnized in St. Helena Catholic parish, Helena, Montana on Saturday, July 17, when Miss Ethelyn Hook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Pearl of Rossville and Mr. Elmer Lynde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lynde of Popular Bluff, Missouri, were united in marriage by Father Morressette. Mrs. Clifford Smithers, Helena, Montana and Mr. Edgar Smith, York, Montana were Mr. and Mrs. Lynde's attendants. Mr. Clifford Smithers was also present. Mrs. Lynde is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy at St. Marys, Kansas and attended college at St. Mary college at Leavenworth, Kansas. She has been employed in Helena, Montana for the past three months. Mr. Lynde is a graduate of Rossville high school. He has been employed since May 1 in the mill at the Golden Messenger gold mine near York, Montana. Mr. and Mrs. Lynde will make their home near York. [From 22 Jul 1937]
  		Anniversary- Lynde, Elmer and Ethelyn 1 Lynde Couple Celebrated Golden Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the 16th and 17th of July in Missoula, Mont. The hosts on the 16th were Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Carolyn Rogers, at Carolyn’s home. Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers entertained with a reception at the Elks Club on the 17th. Miss Mona Lynde, their daughter, was also a guest at both receptions. The couple has three grandsons and one granddaughter. Elmer and Ethelyn were married at Helena Cathedral on July 17, 1937. Mr. Lynde was a soil conservation contractor for 25 years. After living in Montana for nine years they moved back to Kansas in 1946.

Other guests were Miss Mona Lynda, Topeka; Chris Lynde, Matthew and Daniel Rogers, all of Missoula, Mont. Mr. and Mrs. Lynde were married at the cathedral in Helena, Mont, on July 17,1937. Dr. and Mrs. Loren Rogers, Missoula, Mont., entertained Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, at a golden wedding party at the Elks Club on July 17. Other guests were Miss Mona Lynde, Topeka, Dr. and Mrs. Rogers’ three children, Matthew, Daniel and Misty, Kelly and George, and Mrs. Shirley Kubes. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lynde, Rossville, and Miss Mona Lynde, Topeka, spent a week visiting their children and brothers Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Lynde and Chris and Dr. and Mrs. Loren Lynde.

Anna Jr. Her gown of white whipped honey was fashioned with appliquéd lace roses at the neckline, on the long sleeves and encircling the hem. Her cathedral-length veil was held by a petal headpiece, and she carried a cluster of blue roses. JoAnn Miner was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Jan McCullough and Delores Anna. Mr. Lynde was a self-employed woodworker. He built orthotics. He served in the Air Force from 1962 to 1966. He was born March 19, 1943, in Helena, Mont., the son of Elmer and Ethelyn Lynde. He was reared in Rossville, Kan. Mr. Lynde was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and the American Legion. He was married to Deb Frye at St. Marys, Kan., on June 27, 1970. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Christopher Lynde, Missoula, Mont.; a daughter, Brandy Lynde, Missoula, Mont.; his mother, Ethelyn Lynde, St. Marys; a brother, Dr. Loren Rogers, Missoula, Mont.; a sister, Mona Lynde, Topeka. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery inMissoula. Mr. Lynde will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Livingston-Malletta and Geraghty Funeral Home at Missoula, where a parish vigil service will be 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for his daughter and sent in care of the First Interstate Bank, 3502 Brooks, Missoula, Mont., 59801.
