ON WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
A family get-to-gether was held Sunday, October 3, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik Sr. in honor of their 46th wedding anniversary which was October 6th.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Olejnik and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Olejnik also had wedding anniversaries on the 6th which were celebrated Sunday.
Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Olejnik and Linda, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Olejnik and Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olejnik and Charlotte, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Pressgrove, Karen, Shirley and Ronald, Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik Jr., Joyce and Patricia, Mrs. Georgi Anne Davis and Richard, Mr. Rudolf Olejnik, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Koontz and Cheryl Kay. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Donly were unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik, Sr. celebrated their wedding anniversary on October 9. They were married 47 years ago on October 6.
A family gathering was held at their home. A three tiered, decorated cake and home made ice cream were served. The cake was baked by two of their daughters, Mrs. Georgianne Davis and Mrs. William Koontz.
The following were present: Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik Sr., Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik Jr., Patricia and Joyce of Delia, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Pressgrove, Karen and Ronnie, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Olejnik and Bobby, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olejnik and Linda, Rudolf and Henry Olejnik, all of Rossville, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Koontz and Cheryl, Mrs. Georgianne Davis and Richard, Miss Shirley Pressgrove and Mr. A1 Dietrich all of Topeka.
Mrs. Henry Oleinik and Charlotte of Rossville and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Donly and Deborah of St. Joseph, Mo. were unable to attend.

 | Anniversary- Olejnik, George and Rosa 3 Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Olejnik Sr. celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Delia, Kansas, October 5, 1958. They were married October 6, 1908, at Topeka.
Mr. and Mrs. Olejnik retired from the farm in 1955 when they moved to Delia. Before their retirement, they had spent all of their married life on a farm in the Rossville vicinity.
Mrs. Olejnik was born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States at the age of eleven. Mr. Olejnik was born at Rossville and lived in the community until he and Mrs. Olejnik moved to Delia, where they still reside.
They have nine children and sixteen grandchildren. The children are: George Jr. of Delia. Rudolf, Henry, William and Edward of Rossville, Mrs. Agnes Koontz, Mrs. Georgianne Davis of Topeka, Mrs. Helen Donly of St. Joseph, Mo., and Mrs. Josephine Pressgrove of Rossville.

George Olejnik, 86, Delia, died Thursday, December 7, 1995 at the Rossville Valley Manor, where he had been for a few days.
He was born September 7, 1909 at Rossville, the son of George, Sr. and Rosie Hejtmanek Olejnik. He had lived in the Delia community many years.
George grew up in the Rossville and Delia communities. He was an apprentice with Bill Sneller Blacksmith Shop in Rossville for a few years. He was a blacksmith and welder, and owned and operated the Olejnik Welding and Blacksmith Shop in Delia for 38 years. He retired in 1974. George made many tools and knives, and also did woodworking. He was on the Delia City Council and had served as mayor of Delia. He served on the Delia School Board for several years. He was a project leader for the 4-H Club, a member of the Delia Presbyterian Church, and a charter member of the Delia Lions Club. He had been a member of the Western Fraternal Lodge Association.
He was married to Letha Kovar November 26, 1939, north of Topeka. She died March 8, 1995.
Surviving him are two daughters, Patricia Tomson, Rossville, and Joyce Ward, Delia; three brothers, William Olejnik, Rossville, Edward Olejnik, Holton, and Henry Olejnik, Delia; four sisters, Helen Donly, St. Joseph, Mo., Josephine Pressgrove, Georgianne Davis and Agnes Wike, all of Topeka; and four grandchildren.
A family visitation was from 2:30 until 4:00 Sunday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home. His funeral service was at 10:00 Monday at the Delia Presbyterian Church; interment was in Czech Moravan Cemetery southeast of Delia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delia Presbyterian Church or the ZCBJ Lodge and sent in care of the funeral home. |

Brother George Olejnik was born September 7, 1909 at Rossville to George Sr. and Rosie Hejtmanek Olejnik and died December 7, 1995 at Rossville. Funeral services were held December 11, with interment at Czech Moravan Cemetery.
George married Letha Kovar on November 26, 1929 [1939] at Topeka.
Survivors include Patricia Tomson of Rossville, Joyce Ward of Delia, Henry Olejnik of Delia, William Olejnik of Rossville, Edward Olejnik of Halton [Holton], Josephine Pressgrove, Georgian [Georgianne] Davis, Agnes Wike, all of Topeka, Helen Donly of St. Joseph, MO and four grandchildren.
