IN METHODIST CHURCH
Miss Lucille Reser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Reser, was married to Marion Porter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter in a quiet ceremony Friday evening, August 16. at 7:30 p. m. in the Rossville Methodist church. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Don Jones in the presence of a few relatives.
The couple is residing in Topeka where she is employed as clerk in the County Extension office. He is employed at the Goodyear plant. Both are graduates of Rossville High School.

Porters cebebrate 50th wedding anniversary
Marion Porter and Lucille Reser were united in marriage on Aug. 16,1957, at the Rossville Methodist Church at an evening ceremony.
Marion and Lucille celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner, reception and singing at the Topeka Steakhouse on Aug. 4, 2007, which was hosted by their children, Darlene McGranahan, St. Marys, Tammy and Kevin Kerwin, Delia, Mike and Linda Porter, Emmett. Charlene Porter, sister, and their eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also attended to round out the celebration. Stories were shared by the couple with their family for all to enjoy.

Marion A. “Mike” Porter
MAPLE HILL- Marion A. “Mike” Porter, 70, passed away Thursday, October 18,2007 at his rural Maple Hill home.
Marion had worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Topeka for 30 years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife Lucille of the home; two daughters, Darlene McGranahan, St. Marys and Tammy (Kevin) Kerwin, Delia; a son, Mike (Linda) Porter, Emmett; sisters Sally Stum, Rossville, Katherine Sisson, New Memphis, IL. and Charlene Porter, St. Marys; a brother Kenneth Porter in New Hampshire; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 22, 2007 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Porter will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home where family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.

“MIKE” PORTER
Marion A. “Mike” Porter, 70, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18,2007, at his rural Maple Hill home.
He was born Nov. 29, 1936, at Hornick, Iowa, the son of the late Charles O. and Margaret E. Cole Porter. He spent his early life in Iowa before moving to the Rossville and St. Marys communities in 1955. Mr. Porter graduated from Rossville High School.
Marion had worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Topeka for 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Porter was also a farmer and worked for Porter Roofing for 10 years and USD No. 321 for several years. He had served on the Maple Hill Police Department and the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Department along with being a weather spotter. He was a member of the Willard Baptist Church and a member of United Steel Workers Local No. 307 in Topeka.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by a brother, Charles and a sister Shirley.
On Aug. 16, 1957 he was united in marriage to Lucille A. Reser in Rossville. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Darlene McGranahan, St. Marys, and Tammy (Kevin) Kerwin, Delia; a son, Mike (Linda) Porter, Emmett; sisters Sally Stum, Rossville, Katherine Sisson, New Memphis, Ill., and Charlene Porter, St. Marys; a brother Kenneth Porter in New Hampshire; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 22 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys.
Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery.
