Mrs. Edgar Blush entertained with a dinner at her home in the Grove community, May 14, in honor of her parents' thirty-fifth wedding anniversary.
Those present at the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Queen, Calvin, Davis and Bill; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Queen, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Reese and Linda Kay; Mr. and Mrs. Francis Edwards and Sandra Sue; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Bush [sic Blush] and Terry. |
| Anniversary- Queen, Creed and Hallie 2 Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Queen will be honored guests at an open house May 16 at the Grove Community Hall in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The open house hours will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and guests will be received by their children. No invitations are being issued but friends and relatives are asked to call. The couple requests that no gifts be presented.
Mr. and Mrs. Queen were married May 15, 1915 at Caldonia, Missouri, and have lived in the Grove community for 31 years. Mr. Queen was section foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years until he retired eight years ago.
Mr. and Mrs.; Queen are the parents of seven children, Mrs. Geraldine Edwards, Junction City; Mrs. Ruth Blush, Silver Lake; Mrs. Imogene Reese, Tecumseh; Mrs. Doris Anderson, Topeka; Calvin Queen, Lakewood, California; Donald Queen, Silver Lake and Bill Queen, Silver Lake.
There are 13 grandchildren.

Billie Joe Queen, 52, 219 Waite, died early Monday, March 17, at a Topeka hospital. He had been ill several years.
Mr. Queen was employed by Victory Sand and Gravel Inc., before he retired because of ill health in 1976.
He was born March 9, 1934, in the Grove community north of Silver Lake, the son of C.T. and Hallie Hays Queen. He lived in the Silver Lake community until he moved to Topeka in 1965.
He was married to Irene Smith Aug. 11, 1965, at Enid, Okla. She survives. A stepgrandson, Bobby Mohler, died Jan. 4, 1971.
Other survivors include four step-daughters, Mrs. Elaine M. Mohler, Silver Lake, Mrs. Marilyn I. Laird and Mrs. Janice Kies, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Jo Ann Davis McKinney, Lawrence; a stepson, Ray E. Smith, San Bruno, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Edwards and Mrs. Ruth Blush, both of Silver Lake, Mrs. Imogene Reese, Tecumseh, and Mrs. Doris Anderson, Osage City; a brother, Donald W. Queen, Silver Lake; 14 stepgrandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake. Mr. Queen will lie in state until service time at the funeral home, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. The casket will be closed at the service hour. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or the United Methodist Church, both at Silver Lake, 66539.
