| Bridal Shower- Reid, Homer and Arline A miscellaneous shower was given last night at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. John Reid, complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Homer Reid. The guests arrived early before Mr. and Mrs. Reid had returned from town and waited quietly in the darkened; dining room giving them a real surprise. A very merry evening social hour was passed playing games. Refreshments of fruit salad, cider and wafers were served. The gilft [sic] included many useful articles. Those present were: Misses Sara McCollough, Winifred McCollough Ocea Rogers, Ruth Rogers, Ruth Van Orsdol, Clara Hopkins, Mildred Binney, Ernestine Towles, Helen Randall. | Marriage- Wilt, Arline-Reid, Homer WILT-REID
A very pretty wedding was quietly solemnized at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon when Miss Arline Josephine Wilt, daughter of Mrs. R. L. Wilt of this city, became the bride of Mr. Homer Stanley Reid, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Reid, living east of Rossville.
The marriage took place at the home of the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Emma Ellis, 600 West Eighth avenue, Topeka. The Rev. H. L. Nelson, of the Potwin Presbyterian church, read the marriage service.
The bride wore her traveling suit of dark blue wool poplin and a corsage of pink roses and sweet peas.
After a wedding trip to Chicago land other points in Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Reid will be at home on the Reid farm east of the city.
Mr. Reid and his bride have been reared in this community. Mr. Reid is a graduate of the Rossville high school. Mrs. Reid after attending the local school for a time, completer school work in the Colorado Springs high school.
The heartiest congratulations and best wishes of their many friends in the community are extended them.

| Obituary- Reid, Homer Homer S. Reid
ROSSVILLE - Homer S. Reid, 87, Rossville, died here Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1987, at a nursing home where had been a patient several years.
Mr. Reid was a retired farmer.
He was born Feb. 12, 1900, at Rossville, the son of John W. and Amanda Jane James Reid. He grew up in Rossville and was graduated from Rossville High School.
Mr. Reid was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rossville and was church treasurer many years.
He was married to Arline Witt [sic Wilt] Sept. 17, 1924, in Topeka. She survives.
Survivors include a son, Robert Reid, Lawrence; and three grand-children.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Reid will lie in state from 5 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church in Rossville, 66533.
Homer S. Reid
Homer S. Reid, 87, Rossville, died Wednesday, December 23, 1987, at
Rossville Valley Manor where he had lived for several years.
He was born February 12, 1900, at Rossville, the son of John W. and Amanda Jane James Reid. He grew up in the Rossville community and graduated from Rossville High School. He was a farmer and retired in 1967.
Mr. Reid was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and held the office of treasurer for many years.
He was married to Arline Wilt of Rossville on September 17, 1924, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Alice Reid, Lawrence; and three grandchildren in Lawrence.
Graveside services and interment were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rossville Cemetery.
Mr. Reid lay in state from 5 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday at the Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Presbyterian Church, 66533.

A surprise party was planned to be given at the home of Mrs. J. Reid last Thursday evening. The guests of honor were, Miss Mable Howerton, Miss Helen McPherson and Homer Reid, it being their 14th birthday anniversaries. Owing to bad weather the crowd could not go to the country so they met at the home of Miss Irene Howard and enjoyed a very pleasant evening. Refreshments were served. Those present were: Helen McPherson, Mabel Howerton, Doris Jamieson, Gladys Eversole, Pauline Baylis, Gladys Hartzell, Bernice Davis, Irene Howard, Thurlow Neiswender, Fred Stuart, Carl Parr, Clyde Strimple, Pheane Ross, Ora Parr, Leslie Griswold, and Orville Hartzell. |
