John L. Reser, 96, Topeka, died Friday, December 15, 1995, at the Rossville Valley Manor.
He was born January 12, 1899, in Shawnee County, Kansas, the son of Johnston and Alice N. Duffey Reser. He lived in Topeka all of his life.
He worked for Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department; Shawnee County Road Depart¬ment; and, from 1938 to 1977, was a sales representative for Wentz Equipment Company.
He had been baptized in Prai¬rie Home Christian Church. He was a 65-year member of Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF&AM.
He married Clara M. Schmalz June 18, 1936, in Topeka. She died November 17, 1983.
He is survived by two nieces, Mary Louise Pellow and Alice McGrew, both of Fort Collins, Colo., and a great-nephew, John Bates, Topeka.
His service was a 3:00 Monday afternoon at the Parker-Price Mor¬tuary, Topeka. Burial was in Prai¬rie Home Cemetery, NW 35th and Menoken Road, Topeka. Masonic graveside service was conducted by Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF&AM.

John L. Reser
John L. Reser, 96, formerly of Topeka, died Friday, Dec. 15, 1995, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mr. Reser was a sales representative for Wentz Equipment Co. from 1938 to 1977. He also had worked for the Shawnee County Sheriff's De¬partment and the Shawnee County Road Department.
He was born Jan. 12, 1899, in Shawnee County, the son of Johnston and Alice N. Duffey Reser. He was a lifelong resident of the Topeka area.
Mr. Reser was baptized at Prairie Home Christian Church and was a 65-year member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF&AM.
He was married to Clara M. Schmalz on June 28, 1936, at Topeka. She died Nov. 17, 1983.
Survivors include two nieces, Mary L. Pellow and Alice McGrew, both of Fort Collins, Colo., and a nephew, John Bates, Topeka.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial with Masonic graveside services conduct¬ed by Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF&AM will be at Prairie Home Cem¬etery. Mr. Reser will lie in state after 10 a.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Valley Manor, 600 Perry, Rossville, 66533.
