CORNING – Mrs. Marie Rottinghaus, 76, Corning, died Thursday, Aug 22, at a Kansas City, Kan., medical center.
She was born April 6, 1909, in Seneca, the daughter of Fred and Mary Elizabeth Rettele Haefele. She lived in Seneca, Kelly and Corning during her life.
Mrs. Rottinghaus was a member of St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly and the Altar Society of the church.
She was married to Frank Rottinghaus on Jan. 8, 1930. He died Dec. 8. 1965.
Survivors include eight daughters, Mrs. Mary Kongs, Topeka, Mrs. Veronica Stallbaumer, Denver, Mrs. Joan Platt, Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Martha Cowan, Rossville, Mrs. Margaret Rethman, Seneca, Mrs. Lucille Koelzer, Axtell, Mrs. Delores Engel, Lenexa, and Mrs. Rosemary Runnebaum, Kansas City, Kan.; four sons, Francis Rottinghaus, Jim Rottinghaus and Gerald Rottinghaus, all of Topeka, and Robert Rottinghaus, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Florina Gallagher, Paola; two brothers, Cyril Haefele, Vassar, and Vincent Haefele, Paola; 33 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. Burial will be in St. Bede’s Catholic Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. today at the church. Contributions may be made to the Mrs. Marie Rottinghaus Memorial Fund to be designated at a later time by the family and left at Community National Bank., Seneca, 66538.
