OSKALOOSA – John Dale Rowe, 80, Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at a Lawrence hospital.
Mr. Rowe was a masonry maintenance worker at Topeka State Hospital before he retired in 1983 after 25 years of service. He served in the Navy from 1939 to 1947, and was a veteran of World War II.
He was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Rossville, the son of Charles Henry and Flossie Keech Rowe. He was a 1936 graduate of St. George High School in St. George. He had lived in Oskaloosa since 1955.
He married Lois Mae Luekenga on June 16, 1943, in Alma. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Timothy J. Rowe, Bonner Springs, and Thomas D. Rowe, Lawrence; two daughters, Mary Ann Jaimez, Topeka and Alberta Marie Bayless, Carbondale; five brothers, Vernon Rowe, St. George, Russell Rowe, Cottonwood Falls, Lawrence Rowe, Phoenix, Kenneth Rowe, Salina, and Ronald Rowe, Strong City, two sisters, Virginia Reed, address unavailable, and DeLores, whose last name and address are unavailable; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
