Celebrate 50th
Anniversary
The 50th wedding anniversary reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sage will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26, in the fellowship hall of the United Methodist Church, Rossville.
The couple’s son Major Arlyn H. Sage is on a year’s tour at the Kunsan Air Force Base, South Korea. His wife, Jan, and four children are in Abilene, Tex., where they are assigned to Dyess Air Force Base.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.
Mr. and Mrs. Sage were married April 20, 1931, at Council Grove and have lived in the Dover and Rossville communities all their married life. Before retirement, Mr. Sage was employed by the Washburn University Maintenance Department. Mrs. Sage taught in the Dover area, Rossville Grade, and Pauline South Elementary completing 32 years of teaching.

| Anniversary- Sage, Harvey and Fern 2 60th Anniversary for Sages
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Sage will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at the Rossville United Methodist Church.
Hosts will be their son and daughter-in-law, Arlyn and Sun Ye Sage, and their grandchildren, Judy Ann, Teresa, John, Joseph, and David.
Harvey Sage and Fern Hickey were married April 20, 1931, in Council Grove, Ks. Mr. Sage is retired from Washburn University Maintenance Department and Mrs. Sage is a retired elementary school teacher.

Fern Vivian Sage, 88, Rossville, died Monday, July 26,1999, at the Adult Living Center in Rossville.
She was born October 29,1910, in a sod house near Scott City, the daughter of John H. and Maud A. Beckley Hickey.
Her first trip was in a covered wagon. Fem moved with her family to the Dover community, where she lived until she moved to Rossville in 1955. She was graduated from Washburn University, Topeka, with a Master’s Degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Shawnee and Wabaunsee counties for many years.
She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. She was also a 50-year member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Silver Lake, and a past District Aide with the Eastern Star.
She was married to J. Harvey Sage April 20, 1931, at Council Grove. He died November 10, 1995.
Surviving her are a son, Arlyn Sage, Rossville; a sister, Norma Moore, Phoenix, AZ; a brother, John R. Hickey, Topeka; and five grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends and relatives from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville. Her service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Dover Cemetery, Dover.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral chapel.

' ROSSVILLE - Fern Vivian Sage, 88, Rossville, died Monday, July 26, 1999, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mrs. Sage taught elementary school in Shawnee and Wabaunsee counties tor several years.
She was born Oct. 29, 1910, near Scott City, the daughter of John H. and Maud A. Beckley Hickey. She moved to Dover with her family where she lived until she moved to Rossville in 1955.
She graduated from Washburn University with a master’s degree in education.
Mrs. Sage was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and Alpha Delta Kappa and an honorary life member of KNEA. She also was a 50-year member of Loyal Chapter No. 176 of the Order of Eastern Star in Silver Lake. She was a past district aide with Eastern Star.
She married J. Harvey Sage on April 20, 1931, in Council Grove. He died Nov. 10,1995.
Survivors include a son, Arlyn Sage, Rossville; a sister, Norma Moore, Phoenix; a brother, John R. Hickey, Topeka; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery. Mrs. Sage will lie in state from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville.
