| Obituary- Simecka, John S. John S. Simecka
John Simeka [sic] was born December 26, 1873, in Austria-Hungary, and died at his home in Delia, Sunday evening, October 31, 1937, aged 63 years, 10 months, 5 days. He came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simecka, at the age of six. He spent his life as a farmer, being a resident of the Delia community in Jackson county for almost sixty years. Four years ago, with failing health, he retired to a residence in Delia.
On December 26, 1899, he was united in marriage to Nettie Scheidegger of Pawnee City, Nebraska, and to this union was born nine children. One son, Henry, preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, Nettie Simecka, two daughters, Mrs. Dora Immenschuh, Rossville, and Mrs. Grace Horack [sic Horak], Bakersfield, Calif.; six sons, Steve of Topeka; William, of St. Marys; Robert, James, Jesse and Johnnie of Delia. Other surviving relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Martinek, Rossville and Mr. [sic Mrs.] Tillie Dolezilek, Rossville; two brothers, Joe and Frank of Delia and twelve grandchildren. Mrs. Louis Lysek, a sister, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Topeka.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 4, at 2 o'clock at the Delia Presbyterian church, Rev. Bruce Davis, officiating. The Scottish Rite burial ritual requiem were used.
The pallbearers were Messrs. E.I. Zirkle, John Wehner, Ed Macha, Frank Muller, Joe Lane and Frank Matyak. Interment was in Rossville cemetery.
Mrs. Albert Horack [sic Horak] of Bakersfield, Calif., came home to attend the funeral of her father.

Mr. Simecka passed away Sunday at his home in Delia after several months of illness. |
