Joseph B. Simecka drowns in farm pond
Joseph Benjamin Simecka, 78, a retired farmer of Delia, was drowned last Wednesday evening while fishing near there.
Born October 4, 1882, at Willis, he moved to Delia with his parents when he was 7. He had lived on the same farm the last 50 years.
He was married to Mary Johanna Cander February 1, 1904 at the Immaculate Conception Church at St. Marys. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Delia in 1954.
Mr. Simecka was a member of the Sacred Heart Church at Delia and a 50- year member of the Woodmen of America.
Services were held at 9 a. m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Church at Delia.
Survivors include his widow, Mary Johanna; four daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Thompson of Delia, Mrs. Loretta Dodd of Ottawa, Mrs. Josephine Constant of Route 2, North Topeka, and Mrs. Leona Paulini of Mobile, Ala.; four sons, Leo Simecka of Topeka, Ray Simecka of Emporia, Arthur and Benjamin Simecka, both of Delia; 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
