    Thomas M. Simpson
    Thomas Madison "Shorty” Simpson, 73, Topeka, died Saturday, July 6. 1991, at home.

    Mr. Simpson was in the Civilian Conservation Corps, worked for the Rock Island Railroad, was a heavy equipment operator and worked for Stauffer Communications. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

    He was born March 10, 1918, at Clarence, Mo., the son of Louis J. and Hallie Mae Fuller Simpson.

    Mr. Simpson was a member of Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion.

    He was married to Helen M. Lord on Nov. 27, 1948, at Dover. She survives. A son, James Simpson, preceded him in death.

    Other survivors include three sons, John Simpson, Bonham, Texas, Joel Simpson, Lyndon, and Daniel Simpson, Topeka; three daughters, Margaret Woehr, St. Marys, Eileen Langley, Topeka, and Louise Johnson, Lenexa; a sister, Florence Baker, Topeka; two brothers, Weldon Simpson, Topeka, and Louis Simpson, Maple Hill; 15 grandchildren; and two great- granddaughters.

    Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted. Mr. Simpson will lie in state after 8 a.m. Monday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 1272 S.W. Fillmore, Topeka, 66604- 1167.
