    Frank M. Suttles
    Frank M. Suttles, 71, St. Marys, died Tuesday, December 9,1997, at a Topeka hospital.

    Mr. Suttles was born February 21, 1926, in Emmett, the son of Raymond W. and Ruth I. Brownfield Suttles.

    He grew up in the Emmett community and was graduated from Soldier High School. He served in the Army in the Pacific from August 1944 until August 1946. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 28 years and retired in 1982. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church, Jimmie Lillard Post No.31 of the American Legion at Rossville and the USWA Local Union No. 307 at Topeka. He lived in St. Marys for several years.

    He was married to Murrine Rice on July 2,1949, at the home of her parents in St. Clere. She survives. A son, Sidney Leroy Suttles, died in infancy.

    Survivors are a daughter, Linda S. McKay, Plano, TX; three sons, Frankie E. “Gene” Suttles, Hoyt, Robert L. Suttles, Houston, Tex., Danny L. Suttles, Clearwater; one brother, Bobby D. Suttles, Fairfield Glad, TN; and nine grandchildren.

    His service was Saturday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St Marys. Burial was in the ML Olive Cemetery north of Emmett, with military graveside service conducted by Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, Rossville. Family visitation was Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion or the Emmett United Methodist Church, and sent in care of the funeral home.

    Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, was in charge of arrangements.
