| Anniversary- Townsend, Cecil and Gwendolin 1 The children of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Townsend will honor their parents with a reception Sunday, Aug. 24 in Fellowship Hall of the Oakland Christian Church in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
No invitations are being sent. Friends and relatives are asked to call from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.
Mr. and Mrs. Townsend were married Aug. 23,1919 in Albany, Mo., and have lived in Topeka 50 years. Mr. Townsend is a retired Santa Fe employee.
Their children are Mrs. Scott Kelsey and Mrs. Richard Kelsey, Rossville, Hubert Townsend and William Townsend. There are 10 grandchildren.

| Anniversary- Townsend, Cecil and Gwendolin 2 Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Townsend celebrated their 60th wedding an-niversary on three occasions recently. They were married August 23 1919, in Albany, Mo. They moved to Topeka a short time after, and have lived in the Oakland area 60 years.
Their first celebration was a reception on Sunday, August 19, which was held in their home. One hundred eleven friends and relatives came to greet them. They were also treated to a ride in a 1929 Model A car by two of their guests, Brother and Elouise Tarter.
The second celebration was a dinner at Shawnee Country Club on August 23, with their children Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Faye) Kelsey, Rossville; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Townsend, Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Townsend, Topeka; and Mr. and Mrs. Dick (Greta) Kelsey, Rossville.
The third celebration was on Sunday, August 26. The complete family of thirty-eight attended church together at the Oakland Christian Church where Mr. and Mrs. Townsend are active members. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Kelsey and their children -- Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Linda) Wise, Jereme and Heidi, Springfield, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Kelsey, Shandy, Leisha, and Ja’Nay, Tokyo, Japan; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Town¬send and their children -- Mr. and Mrs. Steve Townsend, Donna, Kim, and Mandy, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Townsend, Jennifer and Benjamin, Mr. and Mrs. Mell (Connie) Frazier and Travis, and Mr. Tim Townsend; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Townsend and their children -- Billy Jim and Tommy Joe; and Mr. and Mrs. Dick (Greta) Kelsey and their children - - Mr. and Mrs. John (Jeline) Harclerode and Jonathan, Emporia, and Mr. Rick Kelsey, Peoria, Ill.
Several other relatives attended church with the Townsends. A family dinner and reception was held in the Fellowship Hall after church with fifty-seven relatives attending.

Gwendolin Doris “Dolin” Townsend, 93, Topeka, died Monday, April 20, 1992, at a Topeka hospital
She was born Oct. 13, 1898, at Freewater, Mo., the daughter of John and Ella Austin Darby. She lived in Lone Star, Mo., where the family operated a telephone company switchboard in their home. She lived in Topeka since 1919.
Mrs. Townsend was a member and hostess of the Oakland Christian Church, a member of Christian Women's Fellowship and the choir.
She was married to Cecil P. Townsend Aug. 23, 1919, in Albany, Mo. He died Oct. 31, 1982.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye Kelsey and Greta Kelsey, both of Rossville; two sons, Hubert D. Townsend and William A. Townsend, both of Topeka; a sister, Opal C. Townsend, Kansas City, Mo.; and Basil Fry, Las Cruces, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Oakland Christian Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Townsend will lie in state after 5 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary where family and friends will meet from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakland Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1001 N.E. Michigan, 66616.

Survivors include two daughters, Faye Kelsey and Greta Kelsey, both of Rossville: two sons, Hurbert D. Townsend and William A. Townsend, both of Topeka; two sisters, Opal C. Townsend, Kansas City, Mo., and Basil Fry, Las Cruces, NM; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, at Oakland Christian Church. Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Parker-Price Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
