| Obituary- Vanderblomen, James 1 James Vanderblomen
James Sylvester Vanderblomen, 63, Topeka, died Monday, June 10,2002, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Vanderblomen worked for Blackburn Nursery for 15 years and he later retired from Stauffer Communications, where he had worked in printing. He also was an Army veteran.
He was born Aug. 27,1938, in Hoyt, the son of Jacob and Marion Celeste Seymour Vanderblomen. He graduated from Rossville High School and lived for many years in Topeka.
Mr. Vanderblomen was a member of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi Nation.
He married Elizabeth A. Wahquahboshkuk on April 5,1965, in Holton. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, James A. Vanderblomen, Lawrence; a daughter, Celeste Murphy, Topeka; two sisters, Joyce Cox, Alvin, Texas, and Judy Harrison, Topeka; two brothers, William Wilbur and John Vanderblomen, both of Topeka; and four grandchildren.
Drum Services will be Friday evening at the Danceground on the Potawatomi Reservation west of Mayetta. Burial will be Saturday in Wezo Cemetery, where Wa-Ta-Se Post No. 410 of the American Legion will conduct military honors. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
