| Obituary- VandeVelde, Charles J. Charles VandeVelde
ST. MARYS – Charles J. VandeVelde, 85, Emmett, died Thursday at a St. Marys nursing home.
He was born Dec. 14, 1885, in Illinois. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. VandeVelde was a member of Holy Cross Church, Emmett, and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, St. Marys.
He was married to Christina DeLeye on April 21, 1915, at Emmett. She died May 8,1970.
Survivors include three sons, August C. VandeVelde, and Charles R. VandeVelde, both of Emmett, and Bernard VandeVelde, 2733 Pennsylvania, Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Veronica Gaignat, Lenexa; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mattan, Delia, and Mrs. Christina Clark, Emmett.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church, Emmett. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys.
