| Obituary- Vawter, B.D. B.D. Vawter
B.D. Vawter was born June 23, 1862 in Illinois and died Feb. 11, 1911, at his home in this city, being therefore about 49 years old. He came to Kansas with his parents and settled on a farm near Burlington where he grew to manhood and continued to live until he came to Rossville as manager of the J. Thomas & Co., lumber yard, in 1909. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Cole, of Burlington in 1887, who with the son George, and several other relatives survive him. His relations with the people of this vicinity have been cordial and the community deeply feel his loss. He was a member of both the Masonic and Oddfellow lodges and was a valuable member.
During the last few weeks of his life he professed his faith and was received into membership in the Presbyterian Church. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from that church, conducted by Rev. John H. Lamb assisted by Revs. J.K. Miller and C.E. Holman, and the body taken to Burlington for burial Monday. The sorrowing ones have the deep sympathy of the many friends.
