Ethel F. Viergever, 89, St. Marys, died Monday, April 14, 1997, at St. Marys Manor.
She was born September 21, 1907, in Maple Hill, the daughter of John Nelson and Rosa Mae Butefish Gooden. She was reared in the Maple Hill community and attended Paxico schools.
She was a member of the Rossville Christian Church in Rossville. She also was a member of the Amaryllis Chapter No. 321 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Rossville, which was consolidated with Loyal Chapter No. 176 in Silver Lake. She was a former member of the Rossville Christian Church Quilters and Rossville Senior Citizens.
She was married to Chris Viergever January 3, 1934, at Oskaloosa. He died August 19, 1989. A son, Gerald, died in 1948. Mrs. Viergever was an Avon Representative for many years in the Rossville community.
Survivors include a son, Dan W. Viergever, Chanute; two daughters, Sue Flerlage, St. Marys, and Sharon Graves, Rossville; a sister, Wilma Loser, Medford, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka.
Her service was at 2:00 Thursday at the mortuary. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery.

ST. MARYS — Ethel F. Viergever, 89, St. Marys, died Monday, April 14,1997, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mrs. Viergever was an Avon representative in the Rossville community for many years.
She was born Sept. 21,1907, in Maple Hill, the daughter of John Nelson and Rosa Mae Butefish Gooden. She was raised in Maple Hill and attended school at Paxico.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be at Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Viergever will lie in state after 1p.m. today at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
