| Marriage- Brooks, Gladys-Viergever, Joe Brooks-Viergiver [sic Viergever]
Miss Gladys Brooks, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Brooks and Mr. Joe Viergiver, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Viergiver of Willard were married Wednesday afternoon, in Topeka by G.G. Horne, pastor of the Christian church. The wedding took place at the Horne home.
Mr. and Mrs. Viergiver are both graduates of the Rossville High school. Mrs. Viergiver taught the past year at Twin Rose school. He is one of the prosperous young farmers of the community, and the young couple will be at home on the Viergiver farm near Willard, following a short honeymoon at Parsons, Kansas. |

| Obituary- Viergever, Joe 1 JOE ‘PAP’ VIERGEVER
Joe H. “Pap” Viergever, 72, Route8, Topeka, died Friday, April 4, 1980, at a Topeka hospital.
He was born March 31, 1908, at Willard, the son of Leonard and Adrianna VanDonge Viergever. He was a lifelong resident of Shawnee County.
Mr. Viergever retired in 1970, as the superintendent of the iron works at Rinner Construction Corporation.
He was a member of the Rossville Christian Church, and the Iron Workers Union Local No. 10, at Topeka.
He married Gladis Brooks on May 23, 1928, at Willard. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Bob Viergever and Max Viergever, both at Willard; a brother, Chris Viergever, Rossvjlle; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Stevens, Aberdeen, Ida., and Mrs. Adrian Beer, Willard; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a infant son, Larry E. Viergever, on February 6, 1932.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Parker-Price Mortuary with burial in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Rossville Christian Church.
