Miss Gladys Brooks, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Brooks and Mr. Joe Viergiver, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Viergiver of Willard were married Wednesday afternoon, in Topeka by G.G. Horne, pastor of the Christian church. The wedding took place at the Horne home.
Mr. and Mrs. Viergiver are both graduates of the Rossville High school. Mrs. Viergiver taught the past year at Twin Rose school. He is one of the prosperous young farmers of the community, and the young couple will be at home on the Viergiver farm near Willard, following a short honeymoon at Parsons, Kansas. |

Max Loren Viergever
WILLARD — Max Loren Viergever, 47, Willard, died of natural causes Monday, Dec. 28, 1987, at his home.
Mr. Viergever was a carpenter and had worked for Bob Florence Contractor Inc., and Halsey-Tevis Inc. He had specialized in acoustical ceilings.
He was born Jan. 14, 1940, at Willard, the son of Joe H. “Pap” and Gladis A. Brooks Viergever. He attended Willard Grade School and was graduated from Rossville High School. He spent most of his life in the Willard community except for a few years at Silver Lake and Kiro.
Mr. Viergever was a member of the Christian Church in Rossville. He had been a member of Carpenter’s Union Local No. 1445 in Topeka many years and served in the department of Shawnee Fire District No. 4 in Dover Township several years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Natalie Pauley, Carrollton, Texas, and Mrs. Robyn Leigh Hulse, Topeka; a son, Terry Lee Viergever, Pittsburg; his mother, Mrs. Gladis A. Viergever, Willard; a brother, Robert W. Viergever, Willard; and two granddaughters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be in Rossville meet from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church in Rossville, 66533, or St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Chemical Dependency Treatment Services, 1700 W. 7th, 66606.
