| Anniversary- Vorhies, Charles and Samantha 1 Last Friday was the 35th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Vorhies and that evening a few friends walked in and surprised them. The evening was spent in playing games and having a general good time. After refreshments of cake and ice cream were served the guests departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. Vorhies many happy returns of the day. The guests present were: Mr. and Mrs. Elton Vorhies, Rev. A.J. | Anniversary- Vorhies, Charles and Samantha 2 Mr. and Mrs. Charley Vorhies were guests of honor at a wedding anniversary dinner, Saturday, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Blanche Driscoll, at Silver Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Vorhies were presented a large wedding cake and friends were invited in and served to ice cream and cake. This was the 53rd wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Vorhies. |

| Anniversary- Vorhies, Charles and Samantha MARRIED 63 YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Charey Vorhies will
have been married sixty-three years Friday of this week, March 30.
Living here all their lives since their marriage except for excursions to California at various times for short sojourns, Mr. and Mrs. Vorhies are enjoying fairly good health and remain active in their church and lodge circles. They will spend the day quietly at home. Mr. Vorhies still is one of the best gardeners in Rossville and always has
a well-kept lawn. Mr. and Mrs. Vorhies have two daughters, Mrs. Blanch Driscoll of Topeka and Mrs. Beulah McIntyre of the home.
Best wishes to this fine couple of Rossville citizens.

CHARLEY VORHIES
Charley Vorhies who passed away last Wednesday, was the oldest resident of Rossville and community.
Charley was a friend to all and a good citizen and neighbor to every one He was a devoted husband and father.
Rossville had been his home for many many years with the exception of time spent on various vacations and tours of the states.
Rev. Earl O. Harbour officiated Friday afternoon at the funeral services in the Methodist church.
The Rev. C. P. Broadfoot of Topeka assisted.
The music was furnished by Mrs. Levi Henderson and Mrs. O. S. Boyd accompanied by Edith Higginbotham
The pall bearers were, C. E. Gresser, Frank Zickefoose, William Kerr, L. B. Crow, Sidney Stumbaugh and Laverne Spears.
Burial in Rossville Cemetery with the Masonic order having charge at the grave-side service.
CHARLES W. VORHIES
Funeral services for Charles W. Vorhies, who died Wednesday at his home in Rossville, will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church in Rossville. Burial will be at the Rossville cemetery, with the Hesperian lodge conducting the rites. The body will lie in state at the Parker Mortuary from Thursday noon until Friday noon.
Mr. Vorhies, who was 88 years of age, was born at Mount Ayers, Iowa and came to Rossville when he was 21. He married Miss Birdie Miller, March 31, 1882, and they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this spring.
Mr. Vorhies was a member of Hesperian Lodge 111, A. F. and A. M. of Rossville, Amarylis Chapter 321, OES, and the Rossville Methodist church.
He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Driscoll, of Topeka, and Mrs. Beulah McIntyre, of Rossville; one grandson, Frank B. Martin of Topeka three brothers, Frank of Shannon City Iowa; Elton of Rossville and Roy of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Webb of Laurel City, Neb.
