Mrs. Wehner was born in Wien, Mo., almost seventy years ago. In 1915 they moved to St. Marys, residing there for four years, then moving to Delia. George Wehner had been a successful merchant in general merchandise until his son, John, took over the business in 1934. Since, Mr. and Mrs. Wehner have retired and reside at their home at the southeast edge of town. Their two children will be present for the wedding celebration, John of Delia, and Mrs. P.J. Ladenburger of Oakley. Open house will be held from 2 to 5 for their friends, Sunday afternoon

Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner ask that no gifts be presented. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner were married June 6, 1917 in Wien, Mo. Mr. Wehner has operated grocery stores in St. Marys and Delia for many years. After living in Delia 36 years, they have been residents of St, Marys since 1955. They are the parents of seven children, who are: Mrs. James Doyle, Colville, Wash.; Mrs. Ray Rezac and Mrs. John Simecka, St. Marys; Clarence, Wehner and John Wehner, Rossville; Melvin Wehner, Eudora; and Francis Wehner, Sharon Springs. There are 27 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

They were married at Wien, Mo., June 6, 1917. In 1919 they moved to Delia and spent 36 years in the grocery business there. Since 1955 they have been residents of St. Marys, at 209 East Palmer Street. They are the parents of seven children.   		Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 3 Wehner’s Celebrate 55 Years Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Sunday with a 10:00 mass at the Immaculate Conception Church which was followed by a dinner for 65 people in the Centennial Building.   		Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 4 John Wehners Celebrate 59th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 22, with a family picnic and reunion held in Riverside Park. Fifty-five relatives were among the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending and sharing in the bountiful meal.

Wehner and Miss Mary Stallman were married June 6, 1917, at Wien, Mo., and this year are observing their 62nd year of marriage. The couple has lived in St. Marys since October, 1955, moving to the community from Delia where they operated a grocery store for 36 years. The Wehners are the parents of seven children--Mrs. Irene Doyle, Spokane, Wash.; Clarence and John A., Rossville; Melvin, Eudora; Francis, Sharon Springs; Mrs. Katie Rezac and Mrs. Florence Simecka, St. Marys.

  Obituary- Wehner, John J. John J. Wehner John J. Wehner, 90, St. Marys, died Monday, March 12, 1984, at a Topeka convalescent center. Mr. Wehner owned and operated a grocery store in Delia from 1919 until 1956 when he retired and moved to St. Marys. He was born August 30, 1893, at Wein, Mo., the son of George and Catherine Lennertz Wehner. He lived in St. Marys from 1915 until he moved to Delia in 1919. Mr. Wehner was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, both at St. Marys. He was married to Mary E. Stallman June 6, 1917, at Wein, Mo. She died January 1, 1981. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Irene Wike, Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Katherine Rezac and Mrs. Florence Simecka, both of St. Marys; four sons, Clarence Wehner and John A. Wehner, both of Rossville, Melvin Wehner, Eudora, and Francis Wehner, Sharon Springs; 28 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Casket bearers were grandsons Gary Simecka, William J. Rezac, Larry Wehner, Bob Wehner, Greg Wehner and Dwight Wehner. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
