Frank E. Wood, 84, Rossville, died Saturday night in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient about two weeks.
He was born Nov. 21, 1892, at Rossville and spent most of his life in the Rossville community.
He served 18 months in France and Germany in the Army with Company D of the 89th Division during World War I. He was a farmer before he retired.
He was a member of the Christian Church at Rossville and Delia Lodge No. 419, AF&AM, at Delia. He also was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
He was married to Mary Lillard Sept. 4, 1928, at Holton. She survives. A daughter, Ruth-Ellen Wood, died in 1930.
Other survivors include a son, Frank E. Wood Jr., Rossville; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Rezac, Silver Lake; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Rezac, Emmett; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion will conduct graveside services at Rossville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Heart Association.
