Car fire victim from Rossville
ROSSVILLE - A man who died when his vehicle caught fire near here Saturday was tentatively identified Sunday by the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department as Frank E. Wood Jr., 41, of rural Rossville.
A sheriff's spokesman said although the body was burned beyond recognition, the vehicle, a 1974 Ford Bronco, was identified as Wood's.
The fire occurred about 9:20 p.m. Saturday near the 8200 block of Capper Road, which is 4 1/2 miles north of Rossville. The spokesman said Wood's vehicle was off the road and apparently "high-centered" when the fire broke out. He said both fuel tanks of the Bronco had just been filled, but that the cause of the fire was still unknown. |
