| Marriage- Page, Bessie-Hayes, Bert Bert Hayes and Miss Bessie Page were united in marriage at the home of Mrs. Josie Allen Wednesday September 16, 1t 9 a.m. Rev. Walker performed the ceremony in the presence of a few friends and relatives. The happy couple left on a wedding tour in Oklahoma on the morning train. The groom is the youngest son of W.J. Hayes and wife of a popular young farmer. The bride has spent most of her time in the past few years as compositor on the Record, as central girl and as assistant postmaster.

honored at surprise celebration
On Sunday afternoon, September 14, the members of the Rossville Christian Church and a number of visitors honored Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Hayes with a surprise celebration of the Hayes’ 50th wedding anniversary.
The festivities began with a fellowship basket dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Vance Crawford. Following this, the honored couple opened their many beautiful gifts. A mixed quartet sang, “Under His Wings” and “The Old Rugged Cross” to provide special music for the occasion.
To complete the program, Mrs. Millicent Renwan read her own adaptation of “This is Your Life.”

Bessie Hayes. Herb Trimble acted as master of ceremonies.
Relatives present for the celebration were Mrs. Nora Lowry, sister of Mr. Hayes, and her son Hayes Lowry of Abilene, Kansas; Bernice Kalcher, Junction City; the three daughters and families, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wyker and Pam of St. Marys, Mrs. Pauline Henderson, Carrollton, Mo., and Mrs. Audrey Gelsinger and two sons of Overland Park, Kansas.
Other out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Art Buchmeier, Topeka, Betty Willis and Bobbie, Topeka, Mrs. U. L. Trenton, Enid, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barney, Hoyt, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Warner Rogers, Dover.

Gelsinger, Roger and Steven of Overland Sark. Kansas; and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wyker and Pam of St. Marys, Kansas, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hayes. The occasion was a special surprise celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Hayes’ golden wedding anniversary. Although the date doesn’t fall until September 16 and their sons, Glenn of Phoenix and Lowell of Tucson, Arizona, couldn’t be with them, the four daughters presented them with a lovely gold-trimmed wedding cake and took pictures of the couple in the 1958 fashion. |

Mr. and Mrs. Bert D. Hayes announce the marriage of their youngest daughter, Audrey Lea, to Joe J. Gilsinger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albiner J. Gelsinger of Jericho Springs, Mo., on July 11, at the Armour Heights Baptist church in Kansas City, Mo. Dr. Ross, minister of that church officiated.
The reception for a large number of the relatives and friends was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Drago. Mrs. Drago is a sister of the groom.
The bride wore a light blue chiffon street length dress with a white orchid and white accessories and her sister, Le Ora, acting as brides maid wore a champaigne colored dress with white accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Mr. James Ricketts attended the groom.
After a short honeymoon in South ern Missouri and Arkansas, they are at home at 1904 East 34th Street, Kansas City, Mo.
Audrey, being part owner of the Dordel Photograph Studio in Kansas City, Kansas, will continue her work there, and Mr. Galsinger is employed as an investigator for a Gas Company in Kansas City, Missouri.
