HOYT- Joanne Rose Day, 70, of Hoyt, KS, passed away Saturday, January 27,2018 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born December 25,1947 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of Walter J. “Jimmy” and Esther Frances (Gentile)
Lund.
Joanne graduated from Mayetta High School in 1965. She worked for the State of Kansas in the Vital Statistics Dept., she was a secretary for Boys Industrial School and a cashier at Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino. Joanne was also a babysitter.
Joanne was a member of the Hoyt United Methodist Church and a member of O.E.S. in Hoyt.
She married Howard Everett Day on September 1,1967 in Holton. He preceded her in death on January 24,2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a step-mother, Maxine Lund.
Survivors include a son, Samuel Day of Topeka, KS; 3 daughters, Carol Eakin (Dennis) of Delia, KS, Becky Macintosh (Rob) of Hoyt, KS and Amy Ross (Jason) of Hoyt, KS; a step-sister, Neva Harris (Butch) of Topeka, KS; a step-brother, Leroy Galster of Holton, KS and 4 grandchildren, Weston & Delaney Ross and Katelyn and Kurtis Macintosh.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Hoyt Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Heart of Jackson Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
