Gladys M. Burress, 75, Silver Lake, died Saturday, September 9, 1989, at her home.
She was born October 5, 1913, at Grove, Ks., the daughter of William and Frances Besta Hawk. She lived in the Grove area all of life.
Gladys was a member of EHU, and United Methodist Church at Walnut Hill.
She was married to Merril Floyd Burress April 28, 1938, in Topeka. He died in 1984.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald F. Burress, Topeka, and Duane W. Burress, Meriden; a half sister, Edna Waldo, Rossville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, at Parker-Price Funeral Home, Topeka. Interment will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Grove. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

SILVER LAKE – Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday for Mrs. Gladys Mildred Burress, 75, Silver Lake. She died Saturday, Sept. 9, 1989, at her home.
She was born Oct. 5, 1913, at Grove, north of Silver Lake, the daughter of William and Frances Besta Hawk, and lived in the Grove Community all her life.
Mrs. Burress was member of the Grove Extension Homemakers Unit and United Methodist Church at Walnut Hill.
She was married to Merril Floyd Burress April 29, 1938, in Topeka. He died Dec. 22, 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald F. Burress, Topeka, and Duane W. Burress, Meriden; a half sister, Edna Waldo, Rossville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery near Grove. Mrs. Burress will lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes and Journey for Sight, L.C.I.F.; and sent to care of Stephen J. Grosscup, Route 2, Box 41, Marysville, 66508.
