Mrs. Hazel F. Wells, 77, Paxico, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 1988, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born Nov. 19, 1910, at Grove, the daughter of William and Frances Besta Hawk. She lived with a daughter at Paxico since 1978 and formerly lived in the St. Marys and Rossville communities many years.
Mrs. Wells was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Marys.
She was married to Harold O. Wells Dec. 24, 1928, in Topeka. He died May 3, 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Buelah Pierson, Emerson, Iowa, and Florence Werner, Paxico; a son, Melvin O. Wells, Mayetta; a sister, Gladis Burriss, Silver Lake; a half sister, Edna Waldo, Rossville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Wells will lie in state after 4 p.m., today at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 8 p.m. today.

She was born November 19, 1910, at Grove, the daughter of William and Frances Besta Hawk. She lived with a daughter at Paxico since 1978 and formerly lived in the St. Marys and Rossville communities many years.
Mrs. Wells was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Marys.
She was married to Harold O. Wells December 24, 1928, in Topeka. He died May 3, 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Beulah Pierson, Emerson, Iowa, and Florence Werner, Paxico; a son, Melvin O. Wells, Mayetta; a sister, Gladis Burriss, Silver Lake; a half sister, Edna Waldo, Rossville; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial was in Rossville Cemetery. The family met with relatives and friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday.
