MR. AND MRS. EVAN LEWELLING, Rossville, will celebrate their Golden Anniversary with a reception at the Delia Community Center on Sunday, June 5, from 2-5 p.m. The couple asks that no gifts be presented.
Since their wedding on June 1, 1927 at Holton, the couple has lived in the Delia, Soldier and Rossville communities. They are the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Laverne Zlatnik, Delia. Their son. Dale, was killed in a traffic accident in 1961. The Lewellings have three grandchildren - Mark, Caroline and Alan; and four great-grandchildren - Julie, Shiela, Scott and Melissa Zlatnik.

Mr. and Mrs. Evan Lewelling, Rossville, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Delia Community Center Sunday, June 5.
A buffet luncheon was served at noon to sixty family members. All of Mr. and Mrs. Lewelling’s living brothers and sisters, and an uncle of Mr. Lewelling were in attendance.

ROSSVILLE — Martha Louise Lewelling, 90, Rossville, died Tuesday, Jan. 11,2000, at her home.
She was born May 6,1909, in Hamilton County, the daughter of Jesse L. and Martha Ellen Perkins Hayden. She attended Holton High School. She had lived in Soldier, Delia and Rossville.
Mrs. Lewelling was a member of Rossville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
She married Evan S. Lewelling on June 1,
1927. He preceded her in death Feb. 18,1985.
Mrs. Lewelling also was preceded in death by a son, Evan Dale Lewelling, in 1963.
Survivors include a daughter, Velma Zlatnik, Delia; a sister, Ruth Smith, Topeka; two brothers, James E. Hayden, Payson, Ill., and Glenn Hayden, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Piper- Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery. Mrs. Lewelling will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church or Stormont- Vail Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home.

She was born May 6, 1909, in Hamilton County, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse L. and Martha Ellen Perkins Hayden.
She attended Holton High School. She and her husband retired to Rossville after living most of their lives in the Soldier, Delia, and Rossville areas. She attended the Rossville United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and enjoyed quilting and flowers.
She married Evan S. Lewelling June 1,1927. He died February 18, 1985. A son, Evan Dale Lewelling, died in 1963.
Immediate survivors include a daughter, Velma Zlatnik, Delia; a sister, Ruth Smith, Topeka; two brothers, James E. Hayden, Payson, IL, and Glenn Hayden, Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great- great-grandchildren, four step- great-grandchildren, and two step- great-great-grandchildren.
Het service was at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys. Burial was in Holton Cemetery, Holton. A family visitation was Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m.
