Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception to be given by their children Sunday, June 4 in the Centennial building in St. Marys.
Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2 and 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner ask that no gifts be presented.
Mr. and Mrs. Wehner were married June 6, 1917 in Wien, Mo. Mr. Wehner has operated grocery stores in St. Marys and Delia for many years. After living in Delia 36 years, they have been residents of St, Marys since 1955.
They are the parents of seven children, who are: Mrs. James Doyle, Colville, Wash.; Mrs. Ray Rezac and Mrs. John Simecka, St. Marys; Clarence, Wehner and John Wehner, Rossville; Melvin Wehner, Eudora; and Francis Wehner, Sharon Springs. There are 27 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

| Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 2 To celebrate Golden Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Sunday, June 4, at a reception hosted by their children.
The reception will be held at the Centennial Building in St. Marys. Friends and relatives are invited to call between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Wehner request that no gifts be presented.
Mr. Wehner came to St. Marys in 1915 and operated a grocery store.
They were married at Wien, Mo., June 6, 1917.
In 1919 they moved to Delia and spent 36 years in the grocery business there. Since 1955 they have been residents of St. Marys, at 209 East Palmer Street.
They are the parents of seven children.
Mrs. James (Irene) Doyle, Colvill, Wash.; Clarence Wehner and John Wehner, both of Rossville; Melvin Wehner, Eudora; Francis Wehner, Sharon Springs; Mrs. Ray (Katharine) Rezac and Mrs. John (Florence) Simecka, both of St. Marys.
They have 27 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

| Anniversary- Wehner, John and Mary 3 Wehner’s Celebrate 55 Years
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Sunday with a 10:00 mass at the Immaculate Conception Church which was followed by a dinner for 65 people in the Centennial Building.
Their seven children were here to help celebrate this festive occasion in the lives of their parents. Mrs. Irene Doyle, Spokane, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wehner, Rossville, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Wehner, Rossville, Mrs. Katherine Rezac, St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Simecka, St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wehner, Eudora, Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Wehner, Sharon Springs, were here. A number of their grandchildren and great grandchildren also came.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Stallman, Independence, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Stallman and Mrs. Anna Kamphaus, Kansas City, Mo. are Mrs. Wehner’s brothers and sister and also were here to attend the mass and dinner.
The Rev. Tom Kearns and the Rev. Robert Hasenkamp were dinner guests.

Mr. and Mrs. John J. Wehner, St. Marys, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Sunday, August 22, with a family picnic and reunion held in Riverside Park.
Fifty-five relatives were among the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending and sharing in the bountiful meal. |

Marys for 23 years and have resided in St. Marys for 35 years.
John L. Simecka and Florence Wehner were married on Thanksgiving Day, November 26,1942, in Salinas, Calif.
Hosting the reception will be their children: Linda and Ed Tuller, Topeka; John R. and Paulette Simecka, Gary and Pam Simecka, Shirley and Willie Mergenmeier, and Denise and Scott Cushing, all of St. Marys.
The couple has 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Florence M. Simecka, 74, St. Marys, died Sunday, September 20, 1998, at a nursing home in Wamego.
She was born June 19,1924, in Delia, the daughter of John J. and Mary Stallman Wehner. She spent her early life in the Delia community and graduated from Delia High School in 1942. She worked at Katie's Korner Restaurant in St. Marys many years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the auxiliary to Hoy Heim Post No. 178 of the American Legion, both in St. Marys. She was a volunteer at St. Marys Manor for more than 20 years.
She married John L. Simecka November 26, 1942, in Salinas, CA. They lived in the Delia and Rossville communities before they moved to St. Marys in 1957. They owned and operated Simecka Hy- Klas grocery in St. Marys from 1959 until 1982. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, John R. Simecka and Gary Simecka, both of St. Marys; daughters, Linda Tuller, Topeka, and Shirley Mergenmeier and Denise Cushing, both of St. Marys; brothers, Clar¬ence Wehner and John A. Wehner, both of Rossville, Melvin Wehner, Eudora, and Francis Wehner, Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Katie Rezac, Osage City; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and a stepgreat-granddaugther.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys. A prayer service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday (today) at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys.
