| Obituary- Grant, Billie Billie Grant
Billie Jean Grant, 78, Topeka, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mrs. Grant was a tax examiner for the Kansas Department of Revenue until she retired in 1985.
She was born July 20, 1921, in Wichita, the daughter of William and Lova C. Lemon Weiler. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1939. She had lived in Maple Hill until 1949, then in Hoyt until she moved back to Maple Hill in 1960.
Mrs. Grant was a member of the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church, and she served two terms in the Silver Haired Legislature.
She married Wayne Waldo Grant on Sept. 14, 1940, in Oskaloosa. He died March 20, 1987. A son, William Ralph Grant, died March 1, 1977, and she also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Russell Wayne Grant and Daniel Dee Grant, and a great-grandson, William Raymond Grant.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Wayne Grant, Hoyt, Michael Dean Grant, Olathe, and Steven Allen Grant, Topeka; two sisters, Edith Marker, and Judy McDiffett, both of Topeka; a brother, Jon Weiler, Topeka; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parker- Price Mortuary. Burial will be at Dover Cemetery in Dover. Mrs. Grant will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the mortuary where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
