Obituary- Cowger, Arch 2

Cowger
"Dick” Cowger, 74, died Wednesday, June 26, at the Onaga Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born Nov. 23, 1910 at Mayetta. Arch was the second son of Oscar and Effie Chaney Cowger.
He grew up in the Emmett and Delia communities. He spent his entire life as a farmer and stockman. This enabled him to be a livestock leader for the Pleasant Valley Rustlers 4-H Club for 28 years. He spent the last 40 years on a farm in the community seven miles south of Soldier.
He was a member of the First MethoŽdist Church of Circleville. He was a very dedicated member of the Soldier Lions Club and was also the last surviving charter member. He served on the JackŽson County Fair Board Association for several years.
He married Irene Spiker on Nov. 17, 1935 at Hiawatha. She survives. Arch was preceded in death by his mother, father, and two brothers.
Survivors include a sister, Beulah Wykert, Circleville; a brother, Leroy Mayo, Filer, Idaho; and an aunt, Nora Blandin, Topeka. He leaves many relaŽtives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on SaturŽday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Whitaker officiating. Burial was in Olive Hill Cemetery west of Holton. Special music was furnished by Claude and Clyde Rieschick. They were accompanied by Bob Brown on the organ. Casketbearers were Joe Leroy Kennedy, Dale Reed, Larry Immenschuh, Fred Kruger, John Richter and Butch Harris. Flower ladies were Carolyn Kennedy, Cathleen Reed and Joyce Immenschuh. Memorials may be made to the Soldier Lions Club in care of the Denison State Bank, Holton.
