Barbara A. Dudney
ROSSVILLE — Barbara A. Dudney, 74, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
She was born June 2, 1937, at Simpson, Kansas, the daughter of James Roy and Melba Marguerite Huffman Gentry. Barbara lived in Simpson until she was in the 5th grade before moving to Ross¬ville. She graduated from Rossville High School in 1955.
Mrs. Dudney had been a secretary for the Kansas Legislature for many years and had been Senator Anthony Hensley's secretary since she started working for the state. She earlier had worked for the Topeka Chamber of Commerce. Barbara was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and also was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bobby Gentry and a sister Betty Dick.
On August 17, 1958, she was united in marriage to Bryce "Pete" Dudney at Rossville. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her children, Robyn Dudney, Silver Lake, Brenda Powell, Temple, TX, and Mark Dudney, Silver Lake; a brother, Billy (Beverly) Gentry, Rossville; her granddaughter, Alayna Powell.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Rossville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church or Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, Kansas.
