Emery Eakin
DELIA — Emery Earl Eakin, 96, Delia, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at a Rossville nursing home.
Mr. Eakin was a farmer and stockman. He also sold Alice Chalmers machinery for several years.
He was born Aug. 10, 1905, northeast of Delia, the son of George G. and Clara E. Mills Eakin. He grew up in the Delia community and lived there all his life. He attended Stach Grade School.
Mr. Eakin was a member of Delia Presbyterian Church. He also had served on the Adrian School Board for many years.
He married Bertha R. Dibbern on Dec. 17, 1924, in Topeka. She died Oct. 6, 1994. He also was preceded in death by a son, Edward Eakin, on July 7, 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Ivaleu Miller and Eudora McQueen, both of Delia; 14 grandchil¬dren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Delia Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Delia Cemetery. Mr. Eakin will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
The family suggests memorials to Delia Pres¬byterian Church, sent in care of the funeral home, St. Marys.
