Obituary- Fidler, Jess 2
Jess Fidler Killed;
Brother Injured
Jess Fidler, Emmett, was killed and his brother was seriously injured early Friday evening, May 22, when the pickup truck in which they were riding went out of control northwest of
Rossville and flipped once or twice, a Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Sgt. Billy Lewis identified the dead man as Jess D. Fidler, 21. Fidler, who was home from Mannheim, German where he is stationed at a U.S. Army base, was dead at the scene, said Lewis.
The other brother, Darrell D. Fidler, 23, was admitted to Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery late Friday. He suffered facial lacerations and was in satisfactory condition, according to a spokesman at the hospital.
Lewis said Darrell was also in the
Army, stationed at Fort Riley.
Sgt. Lewis said the truck, believed to have been driven by the dead man, was northbound on Bailey Road, just south of 70th, at 5 p.m. when the accident occurred. The truck was headed into an “S” curve when it went out of control for 355 feet, flipping once or twice, Lewis said. The truck landed upside down.
Jess was pinned inside the truck and Darrell was thrown from the vehicle, said Lewis.
Mr. Fidler’s obituary is printed on page 2 of this issue.
