C.N. "Nolan" McGinnis
Charles N. "Nolan" McGinnis, 59, Rossville, died Monday, February 11, 1991, at his home.
Mr. McGinnis was a telegraph operator and clerk for Rock Island and Cotton Belt Railroad before he retired in August 1990 for health reasons.
He and his wife also owned and operated the Mainstreeter Restaurant and Club in Rossville.
He was born July 17, 1931, at Esbon, the son of Stephen F. and Elsie Michler McGinnis. He was a graduate from Montrose Rural High School in 1950. He served in the Army from February 1952 to February 1954. He attended Kansas Wesleyan University at Salina and was graduated from a telegrapher school in Pueblo, Colo.
Mr. McGinnis was a member of Brotherhood of Railway and Airline Clerks Union and Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
He was married to Ardeth R. Wright March 21, 1954, at Ionia. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Danielle Schuetz, Rossville, Stephanie Conner, Johnson City, Term., and Leslie McGinnis, Shawnee; a son, Monte McGinnis, Oskaloosa; a brother, Wayne McGinnis, Branson, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.
Services were 2 p.m. Thursday in the Christian Church at Rossville. Military graveside services were conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 in Rossville Cemetery.
Parker-Price Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
