Veronica ‘Bonnie’ Brunin
Veronica “Bonnie” Brunin, 77, passed away Nov. 12, 2009, at St. Marys Manor.
She was born Oct. 30, 1932, at St. Marys, the daughter of Frank J. and Mary K. Bennett Muller. Bonnie grew up in the Delia community and attended school there before moving to St. Marys in 1948. She graduated from St. Marys High School in 1950.
Mrs. Brunin had worked at Rezac Sale Barn, Jim’s Pharmacy and Brunin Paint and Decorating, all in St. Marys. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys and a member of the Altar Society. Bonnie had been active as a member of the I.C. Singers, a guitar choir at the i church, better known as Bonnie’s Group. She enjoyed fishing as well as painting, music and flowers. Bonnie was a loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law.
On Oct. 6, 1951, she was married to Robert J. "Bob” Brunin at St. Marys. He died Sept. 11, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Francis Muller.
Survivors include five sons and their wives, Ed and Janelle Brunin of Fort Collins, Colo., Dave and Kathy Brunin, and Tom and Debbie Brunin, all of St.-Marys, Dan and Donna Brunin of Rossville, and Steve and Vanessa Cook Brunin of Emporia; a brother, Jody Muller of St. Marys; 14 grandchildrenl and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Nov. 16 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Food Pantry or the American Red Cross and sent in care of the Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, KS 66536.
