John A. Lane Dies at 77; Rites Monday
John Albert Lane, 77, 703 Randolph, died Thursday morning in a local hospital. He was born May 19, 1888 at Holy Cross (now Delia). He farmed in that community until his retirement five years ago. He then moved to Topeka.
He was a member of the Holy Name Church, Topeka, Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, St. Marys, and American Legion Capital Post No. 1. He served with Company A, 110th Engineers, 35th Division of the U.S. Army in World War I.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A., of the home; three sons, Orlon, Riverside, Calif., John G., Dixon, Mo., and Lawrence J., Kansas City; two step-daughters, Mrs. George Kinateder, Kansas City, and Mrs. Marvin Mesch, Denver, Colo.; a brother, Joe, and two sisters, Nora Lane and Mrs. Margaret Brock, all of Delia; and 18 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Church, Topeka, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. He will lie at the Brennan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The Office of the Dead will be recited by the parish at 7:30 pm. Sunday at the Brennan Funeral Home Chapel. Rosaries will be recited Sunday by the Mary Magdalene Circle, Holy Name Guild, at 4 p.m., and by the daughters of Isabella at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
