John Nitsch
DELIA —John I. Nitsch, 63, Delia, died Tuesday, Nov. 26,2002, at his home.
Mr. Nitsch owned and operated Nitsch Trash Service, He also had served on the Delia City Council.
He was born May 15,1939, in Lincoln County, the son of Eric John and Minnie Irene Pounds Nitsch. He was reared in Lincoln County and had lived in Delia since 1972.
Mr. Nitsch was a member of Bethany Baptist Church near Hunter.
Mr. Nitsch was a member of the Topeka Racing Legends Association.
He married JoAnn Hyman on Jan. 29,1971, in Lincoln. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Jeannie Gerard, Beloit; a stepdaughter, Kim Kreipe, Meriden; a son, John E. “Dink" Nitsch, Delia: four stepsons, Jim Caraway, Lawrence, Rick Caraway, Denver, Torn Caraway, Delia, and Joe Caraway, Topeka; two sisters, Leota Herman, Concordia, and Janice Oetting, Sylvan Grove; a brother, Roger Nitsch, Hunter; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in Delia Cemetery. Mr. Nitsch will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University and sent in care of the funeral home.
