Obituary- Preble, Walter C.
Walter C. Preble
Services were held for Walter C. Preble, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Rossville, on Friday, June 5, 1992. He died at his home on June 2, after a long illness.
He was born in Scandia, Ks., on March 28, 1926, the son of Walter and Alta Simms Preble.
He graduated from Scandia High School and attended business college in Topeka. He served in the U.S. Army following World War II in the Occupation Forces in Japan. He was a rural mail carried in Rossville for 24 of the 36 years of service with the U.S. Post Office.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scandia and a long time member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy, Mesa, Ariz.; four sons, Myles Preble and Mark Preble, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Chris Preble, Glendale, Calif., and Jim Preble, Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Karen, Mesa, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.
Casketbearers were his sons and two grandsons, Jeff and Bryan Preble, Salt Lake City. Honorary casketbearers were Bob Parnell, Bob Gentry, Larry Hudson, David Stadler, and Luther McClain, all of Rossville, and Dan Clayton, Mesa, Ariz.
A memorial fund has been set up in Walt’s name at the Peoples State Bank in Rossville. Funds will be donated to the Rossville City Library.
