FORMER ROSSVILLE RESIDENT
DIES AT GREEN RIVER, WYO.
Mrs. Nellie Viola Scritchfield, 71, wife of Hiram Scritchfield of Green River, Wyoming, passed away February 2 at the Sweetwater County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for the previous week. The Scritchfield family lived in Rossville from 1907 to 1917.
Mrs. Scritchfield was born July 20, 1887. in Weston, Vt., the daughter of Charles and Finette Fuller Hale. When she was six years old, the family moved to Rossville. She was married to Hiram Scritchfield in Topeka on August 28, 1907. They had been residents if Green River since 1924.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church. Survivors include her husband; six sons, Harold, Richard and Floyd of Green River, Barton of Denver, Raymond, of Irwin, Pa., and Leslie of Encinitas, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Gardner of Lompoc, Calif., and Mrs. Joseph Franich of Devil’s Slide, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Aubert of St. Marys, Kans. and Mrs. Alex Justic of Meriden, Kansas; 18 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were February 5 at the Congregational church with burial in Riverview cemetery. Her sister, Mrs. Joseph Aubert of St. Marys and a niece, Mrs. Leo Kennedy of Emmett, Kansas, attended the funeral.
