Obituary- Stevens, Homer

Homer A. Stevens
HOYT — Homer A. Stevens, 79, Hoyt, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at a Rossville nursing home where he had been a week.

He was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Valencia, the son of Albert and Kate Viergever Stevens. He attended West Union Grade School in the Valencia community and was graduated from Rossville High School. He attended Kansas State University 1 1/2 years. He worked for Stearns & Rogers Corporation in construction several years.

He attended the Community Church in Mayetta.

He was married to Viola L. Olson Dec. 15, 1940, in St. George. She survives

Other survivors include sons, Charles Stevens and Joel Stevens, both in Farmington, N.M., James Stevens, Poplarville, Miss., and John Stevens, Littleton, Colo.; daughters, Judith Fleming, St. Louis, and Janice Stevens and Paula Stevens-Auten, both in Hoyt; a brother, Howard Stevens, Aberdeen, Idaho; sisters, Roberta McKay, Moscow, Idaho, and Esther Dean, Seattle; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery in Dover. Mr. Stevens will lie in state after noon today at the funeral home where visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
