Obituary- Stoyell, John
John Stoyell
John Stoyell died very suddenly at Ft. Dodge, Kan., Tuesday, June 16, of neuralgia of the heart. He was born at Elmira, N.Y., July 25, 1841, where he lived until the civil war was declared, when he enlisted in Co. C, 9th N.Y. heavy artillery. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, and served until the close of the war. Later he came west to Kansas City. Still later he came to Rossville as station agent for the Union Pacific, in 1873, remaining in this position until 1884, when he moved on his farm in Rush county. He returned to Rossville in 1887 again as station agent and remained until 1892 when he retired from active work and moved to Topeka, Kan. He leaves a widow, two sons, John C., of Salt Lake City, Guy B., of Newman, Calif., and a daughter, Mrs. Hilda Renner, of Denver, Colo. Also two aged sisters and one brother in New York. Funeral and burial took place at Newman, Calif., June 22.
John C. Stoyell, who at one time was Union Pacific agent here died on Tuesday, June 16, at the Ft. Dodge soldiers home according to news received this week.
