Anniversary- Hartzell, Ernest and Mary 2
Mr. & Mrs. E. D. Hartzell honored
at reception held in Oregon
Mr. and Mrs E. D. Hartzell of Myrtle Point, Oregon, were honored Sunday afternoon, December 30, at a reception held in the Methodist Church there on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married in Topeka on December 30, 1896, by the Rev. J. G. Maser, Baptist pastor. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell are 81 years of age. They went to Myrtle Point in 1946, Mr. Hartzell serving several years as janitor for an elementary school there. He is now retired.
Mr. Hartzell was a resident of Rossville for 70 years and spent some time as a janitor in the old “hand days.”
Mr. and Mrs. Hartzell are the parents of 10 children, seven of whom are living. They are: O. B. Hartzell of Topeka, Mrs. Marlin Evans of Myrtle Point, Allyn Hartzell of Topeka, Mrs. John Shenk, China Lake, Calif., Mrs. Estel Bailey, Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Wayne Light, Mayer, Ariz., and Clyde Hartzell of Ridgecrest, Calif.
Mr. Hartzell’s parents, the late David and Mrs. Hartzell, were the parents of five children, all of whom are living. Mr. Hartzell passed away at the age of 91 and Mrs. Hartzell lived to the age of 101.
More than 85 friends and relatives were present at the reception to congratulate, extend greetings and well wishes to these venerable pioneers, among them being Mr. Hartzell’s brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Hartzell of Seattle.
